TEMPORARY RESIDENCE, WORK

Prepare your temporary residence and work permit application

Check the conditions, work out your deadline and fees, and tick off every document — including the annex your employer must sign in MOS before you can send the application.

Auranik provides administrative information, document-preparation tools and consulting support. We are not a government authority and do not make decisions on residence, work permits or visas.

Step 1

Quick eligibility check

Answer each question honestly. This is a preparation aid, not a decision. The voivode decides every case.

  1. 1.Are you in Poland legally right now (visa, residence permit or visa-free stay)?

The application must be filed with the voivode for your place of stay no later than the last day of your legal stay.

  2. 2.Has an employer in Poland offered you a job and agreed to complete and sign Annex No. 1 in MOS?

The employer states the job, pay, working time and contract type in the annex and signs it electronically.

  3. 3.Will your monthly pay be at least the minimum wage (4806 PLN gross in 2026)?

This applies whatever your working time or type of contract.

  4. 4.Is your pay at least what workers doing comparable work, in the same working time, are paid?

Does not apply if you are exempt from needing a work permit (for example a Polish university graduate or a Karta Polaka holder).

  5. 5.Is your occupation absent from the local list of occupations for which permits are refused?

Lists are set locally under the 2025 Act on employing foreigners. Does not apply if you are exempt from needing a work permit.

  6. 6.Do you have health insurance in Poland (ZUS/NFZ through work or study, or a private policy covering treatment in Poland)?

Step 2

Your timeline

Enter the date to see how many days you have and what to do first.

A temporary residence application is filed with the voivode for the place of stay no later than the last day of legal stay in Poland. If it is filed correctly during legal stay, the stay is treated as legal from filing until the decision becomes final.

Step 3

Costs

Stamp duty (paid when you apply)

440 PLN

Residence card (after a positive decision)

100 PLN

Total official fees

540 PLN

Using MOS is free. The stamp duty goes to the city office at the seat of your voivode and the card fee to the voivodeship office. Each office publishes its own account numbers.

Step 4

How filing works in MOS

  1. 1

Set up a trusted profile (profil zaufany)

You need it, a qualified signature or a personal signature to log in and sign. Create it at pz.gov.pl if you don't have one.

  2. 2

    Create your MOS account

Log in to MOS (mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl) through login.gov.pl.

  3. 3

Fill in the application and attach files

Add your digital photo, scans of every passport page, fee proofs and the evidence from the checklist. MOS will not let you continue without the required attachments.

  4. 4

Send the attachment request to your employer

Enter your employer's correct e-mail address. MOS e-mails them a link; until they complete and sign the attachment, your application shows "waiting for the organisation" and cannot be signed or sent.

  5. 5

Sign, send and download the UPO

Sign with your trusted profile or qualified signature. The application counts as filed only once it is signed and sent. Download the UPO receipt as your proof of filing.

  6. 6

Receive the filing certificate in MOS

Once the application is formally correct, the voivode issues a certificate (zaświadczenie) in MOS confirming your stay is legal while you wait for the decision.

  7. 7

    Attend the fingerprint visit

The office will call you in to give fingerprints and a signature sample. Bring your original passport. Answer any request for missing documents by the deadline in the letter.
