## Short answer
It depends on your spouse's status. Joining a Polish citizen spouse and joining a foreigner spouse who already holds their own Polish residence status are two different legal routes with two different document checklists -- they are not interchangeable.

## What this depends on
If your spouse is a Polish citizen, the focus is mainly on your marriage certificate and evidence the relationship is genuine. If your spouse is a foreigner, there's an additional sponsor-eligibility test: they must hold one of several qualifying residence statuses (permanent residence, EU long-term resident status, refugee status, or at least 2 years of temporary residence), plus sufficient income, health insurance, and secured accommodation.
