## Short answer
Often, yes -- many programs accept alternatives such as TOEFL, Duolingo English Test, a Cambridge English qualification, or evidence of prior education conducted entirely in English. Some universities also offer their own internal English assessment.

## Important exception
This is entirely at the individual university/program's discretion -- there's no single national list of accepted alternatives. Confirm directly with the specific program before assuming a substitute will be accepted.
