What does "NIP" mean for a Polish business, and how do I get one?

## Short answer
NIP (Numer Identyfikacji Podatkowej) is a company's Tax Identification Number in Poland. For a capital company, it's issued automatically -- usually within 1-3 business days -- once the company is entered into KRS, alongside its REGON statistical number. You don't file a separate application for either.
